Hunterstown Rovers top Division 2 after this top of the table clash played in damp condition in Hunterstown last Saturday. The visitors dominated in most positions from the start. Playing with the wind they kicked three unanswered points through Ryan Sheridan and a couple from Danny Burnell. Even when Paul King saved an excellent shot on goal from Alan Landy, at the expense of a point, the visitors were still looking good. Points from Brian Devlin and Colm O’Neill gave St Fechins a four point lead after thirteen minutes. However their inability to take their chances was to be their undoing as they kicked eleven wides in the first half. The game turned on the fifteenth minute when Padraig Matthews blasted the ball to the Fechins net. Jamie King quickly replied with a forty five that would be St Fechins final score of the half. Glen Matthews tapped over a point to bring Hunterstown within one. A fifty metre free from Paul Carrie looked like it was sailing over the bar, but dipped underneath at the last moment to give Hunterstown their second goal and the lead. They followed up with a Paddy Mooney point to lead by three at half time, 2-3 to 0-6.

Padraig Matthews got the home side off to a good start before Brian Devlin replied for the visitors. It was now Hunterstown turn to kick wides and this kept hopes alive for the Termonfeckin men. The teams exchanged points before Padraig Matthews bagged his second goal after strong build up play. The locals were now in the driving seat and set up a defensive wall that St Fechins could not penetrate. Points from Alan Landy and Muiris Ó Suileabháin sealed the victory. Niall Devlin kicked over the Fechins third point of the half but it was too little against a well organised Hunterstown outfit who must now be favourites for automatic qualification to Division 1.
